CRG is proud to enter into an MOU with Freedom Atlantic that will help American troops and support the United States Department of Defense’s battery strategy

Cornerstone Research Group (CRG), a leading high-tech company specializing in aerospace and defense solutions, has announced the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Freedom Atlantic, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business focused on training, product development, and delivery of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) technology solutions for the warfighter.
The collaboration between CRG and Freedom Atlantic is a strategic effort to support the United States Department of Defense’s (DoD) battery strategy, as emphasized in the recent DoD article, “Collaboration and Standardization Are Key to DOD’s Battery Strategy, Meeting U.S. Energy Objectives.” The article, published on June 5, 2023, highlights Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen H. Hicks’ emphasis on a healthy battery supply chain for military capabilities and national security, emphasizing that “America needs to lead the world” in battery technology.
In line with this vision and in a strategic relationship facilitated by Rushlight Ventures, LLC, CRG will leverage its expertise in Li-metal battery cells to tailor low-temperature Li-metal battery cell chemistry specifically for Freedom Atlantic’s high-energy AN/PRC-148 Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio (MBITR) and Small Tactical Universal Battery (STUB) batteries.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Freedom Atlantic to push the boundaries of battery technology for defense applications,” said Brian Henslee, vice president of power systems for CRG. This proprietary technology allows the battery cells to operate under extreme environmental conditions and extended equipment run time to significantly enhance defense capabilities and support critical battlefield operations.
Under the MOU, Freedom Atlantic will exclusively manufacture and distribute MBITR and STUB battery packs using CRG’s advanced battery cell chemistry. This collaboration aligns with the DoD’s efforts in energy storage and batteries to mitigate supply chain risks and leverage the commercial industry, as outlined in the 2022 DoD report, “Securing Defense-Critical Supply Chains.”
